Rampur was founded in 1943 and has been owned by Radico Khaitan since 1972. The malt distillery is equipped with a 25,000-litre wash still and a 16,000-litre spirit still, allowing it to produce some 2.6 million litres of pure alcohol per year. Throughout the tasting, this version’s particularly extroverted palette of flavours and aromas shows remarkable freedom of expression.

Color : Vieil or soutenu.

Nose : Full-bodied, subtle. The oriental first nose (Turkish delight, rose petal, lychee) is especially expressive. Allowed to breathe,enveloping fragrances of ripe mango, dried fig, royal jelly and dried apricot bring real shine and depth to the aroma palette.

Palate : Taut, lively. Vanilla, slightly peppery, roasted (coffee) with apricot, the attack boasts rare persistence. Gradually, woody (oak) and cereal flavours coat the taste buds in a fine layer of powder (cocoa) and spice (cumin).

Overall : Long, silky. A summary of the nose and palate, the finish starts with oriental (patchouli, lassi yoghurt) notes. The rich and creamy after-taste then reveals succulent flavours of quince, almond paste and green tomato tempura.
