The highest level of spirits certification delivered by the Wine & Spirits Education Trust. This 6-day course prepares participants for a certification that is as demanding as it is widely recognised by the industry on an international level.
The Course
Led by Didier Ghorbanzadeh, spirits expert at La Maison du Whisky, author of the "Nuancier des alcools" and first official level 3 WSET spirits instructor in France, this six-day course will take you through the principles of spirits production in great detail, the specifics of the numerous spirit categories (including Asian spirits) and tasting techniques with over 60 spirits analysed using the WSET's "systematic approach to tasting", which will help you not only to recognise and describe the different spirits, but also to judge their quality by providing objective arguments.
WSET Level 3 course is only available in English.
The WSET Certification
On completion of the course, the certification exam comprises a theoretical section (multiple-choice and open-ended questions) and a blind tasting of two spirits. Because of the high standards involved, it is strongly recommended that you have taken the WSET Spirits Level 2, or possess an equivalent level of knowledge. In order to be fully prepared for the final exam, candidates are expected to undertake a considerable amount reading prior to the course (approx. 52 hours) using the study materials provided.
