Halfway between land and sea, this brut de fût single malt distilled in 1985 is deeply marked by peat. It also evokes a salmon fishing trip in the turbulent waters of a Scottish river. Twenty-one years, the ideal maturity for Lagavulin!

Nose : lively, precise. Oily peat, licorice and pungent smoke form a first screen. This is followed by damp straw, nutmeg, salt and iodine. It evolves on rose, lilac and clementine. An excellent balance of sweet and salty.

Palate : dense, with an oily, unctuous texture. Peat, smoke, citrus and spices are in perfect harmony. Notes of smoked fish, iodine tincture and dark chocolate follow. Evokes a noble liqueur.

Overall : long, suave. A true ode to smoked malted barley, it lingers on damp earth, licorice and wildflowers. In retro-olfaction, we perceive notes of tobacco and brandied cherry.
