KILCHOMAN Small Batch STR French Exclusive

For this third edition of the Islay Selection, La Maison du Whisky has specially selected two small batches from the Kilchoman distillery. These two whiskies are impregnated with a Portuguese influence resulting respectively from an ageing in STR and port wine casks. The STR cask (Shave, Toast, Re-charred) is a cask that, after having contained red wine, is sanded, toasted and re-burned, which gives the whisky aging inside the typicality of fresh virgin oak and the fruity notes of the first fill red wine. The first small batch is a blend of bourbon (75%), Portuguese STR wine (20%) and oloroso sherry (5%). The result is a whisky that blends the savory citrus and peaty smoke notes that are emblematic of Kilchoman with the red fruit, spice and milk chocolate notes influenced by the ex-Portuguese STR wine casks.
