    The first step in a chronological and progressively aromatic series, this LROK (Light Rum Owen Kelly) mark displays an ester content between 200 and 400 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol. This emblematic Hampden expression elegantly illustrates the distillery’s style. While it intermittently reveals the signature hydrocarbon notes typical of the house, its aromatic and flavour profile is most often dominated by intensely floral and fruity sequences. Long after tasting, the vetiver aromas rising from the empty glass serve as a perfect reminder.

    Nose : Rich, unctuous. Both floral (mignonette, hyacinth), musky and medicinal (balm), the aromatic profile is striking in its depth. With aeration, notes of cane honey and sugarcane delicately fill the nose. Becoming increasingly empyreumatic (rubber), it also unveils new spices (white pepper, ginger).

    Palate : Lively yet full-bodied. Returning with force to the medicinal notes of the nose, the flavour profile is marked by intense flavours of mustard seed and clove. It then extends into honeyed and subtly tarry tones (pipe tobacco).

    Overall : Ample, balanced. Brightened by vivid citrus notes (lemon, grapefruit) and juicy fruit (ripe banana, Reinette apple), it bursts with vitality. Fibrous and liquorice-like, the retro-olfaction immerses us in the wild atmosphere of an active fermentation room.
