Opened in 1894 as the fourth of Dufftown's famous seven stills in the heart of Speyside, Convalmore has rarely seen its waxy, fruity whisky bottled as a single malt. Almost entirely dedicated to blended whiskies, production was interrupted in 1909 by a fire. The distillery was extended in 1964 but mothballed in 1985. The original buildings still stand on the site, but the production equipment has been removed. This 39-year-old single malt, aged in a bespoke Gordon & MacPhail cask, is a forgotten masterpiece; a lost work of art that rekindles the spirit of a bygone era. The Recollection #3 range traces the history of Scotland's closed distilleries through a few meticulously selected bottlings. Kept in the cellars of Gordon & MacPhail, they reflect an era and a chapter in the great epic of Scottish Whisky.
