Founded in 1967, the Clynelish distillery produces a single malt loved by master blenders and enthusiasts across the globe for its oily character. After closing for renovation for a year, production started up again in 2017. Revealing from the first nose the waxy notes for which this iconic single malt is so well-known, this rare version is immediately in keeping with Clynelish’s traditional style. The fabulous herbaceous, medicinal and marine sequences poetically bring to life the coastal character of its flavour and aroma palette.

Nose : Refined, deep. The spicy (clove) and medicinal (ointment) first nose is characterized by notes of beeswax and aromatic plants (verbena, sage). Allowed to breathe, grains of salt are laid upon increasingly herbal aromas (cut hay, green barley). Vanilla and pair notes punctuate the tasting.

Appearance : Or vif.

Palate : Lively, distinguished. The herbal attack is also honeyed (acacia), rich (frangipane) and slightly aniseedy. On the mid-palate, Calisson d’Aix and courgette tempura flavours rival each other in intensity. The end of the palate focuses on vanilla and meringue.
