Aged for nineteen years in Trinidad and Tobago, this version called The Gun is one of the youngest Caroni to be transferred to the Cognac region on April 12, 2019, to continue its maturation in dame-jeanne. Depicting a character scanning the bottom of the sea, as if in search of a lost object, its label wonderfully illustrates all the complexity of an aromatic and gustatory palette that needs to be tamed. Particularly evocative, it ardently surveys petroliferous, empyreumatic and even gamey lands that will enthrall the most unconditional fans of this rum from a bygone era, and at the same time undeniably modern.

Nose : Concentrated, heady. Medicinal (balsam, mustard seed), ashy, terpenic (incandescent lava) and empyreumatic (rubber, ice pellets), the aromatic palette is at once delicately fruity (mandarin, gooseberry). On aeration, scents of charcoal and Armenian paper intensify its ethereal character.

Appearance : Cuivre orangé.

Palate : Lively, tense. A carbon copy of the nose, the taste palette is at first essentially composed of hydrocarbons (gasoline, petroleum, fuel oil). Then, little by little, flavors of Turkish delight, date and pistachio candy give it a more oriental dimension. It is then refreshed by citrus zest (lemon, grapefruit).

Overall : Long, complex. At once gourmand (ripe banana, roasted pineapple), telluric (oilfield) and gamey (royal hare), the tasting gradually takes on more honeyed (lime blossom), herbaceous (coriander, oregano) and jammy (orange) tones. In retro olfaction, the waft of an elegant Havana floats through the atmosphere.
