BARBADOS 18 ans 2006 Elixir Distillers

This molasses rum comes from a family-owned distillery in the south of Barbados. It combines rich pot still distillates and lighter column still distillates, aged 14 years under Caribbean conditions. After being acquired by Elixir, it underwent an additional four-year maturation in new bourbon barrels in Liverpool and Speyside for a slower, more harmonious aging. This small batch of 2 casks was bottled in 2025. The rum opens with notes of desiccated coconut, toasted marshmallow, and warm caramel, complemented by the floral delicacy of rose petals and orange blossom. The palate is thick and indulgent, blending citrus, maple syrup, and coffee chocolate like a raspberry-filled biscuit, tempered by fine dry spices. The finish leaves lingering notes of mandarin and dusted chocolate.
