Limited edition of 240 bottles An LMDW exclusive Initially founded by Harold Currie in 1993, production at the Isle of Arran distillery really got under way in August 1995. The first peated Arran was then distilled in 2004 and released in 2010 as “Machrie Moor”. This version, peated to 20 ppm, draws unmistakable parallels with the single cask #1871 featured in our 2023 Antipodes Creation Catalogue. Not only is it seeped in the same peat without being dominated by it, but it also reveals the same abundantly fruity, medicinal and malted aroma palette. Here though, a palpable maritime influence is also felt.

Slightly Peated

Nose : delicate and heady. The nuanced first nose reveals white mint, sleet, candied lemon and fresh walnut. These aromas are followed by medicinal notes (tiger balm, ointment), ash, malt and peat.

Appearance : or vif.

Palate : lively and creamy. Candied lemon and a now more oily and herbaceous peat lead into the mid-palate, which gradually unveils its more coastal and salty influence. Milky (almond) and mineral (chalk) notes are increasingly present.

Overall : pared down, bright. The finish is even more expressive, taking us to the edge of a cliff to contemplate an opaline sea. Sea spray and fleur de sel coat the delicious after-taste. On the retro-nasal olfaction, lemon zest refreshes the taste buds.
