Amrut reveals the latest opus of the “Greedy Angels” collection: a reflection of its decades of experience in the fine-art of whisky making and a testimony to the dedication of its whisky makers. This new make spirit has matured in ex-PX sherry casks for over 6 years first before transferring it to ex-bourbon casks, a reversal of Amrut Distilleries’ usual process. The result is gratifying and an essay in elegance! This whisky has been bottled at 60% abv. to reveal the depth and complexity. This unique gift set comprises a bottle, two branded Glencairn Crystal Tasting Glasses and a glass stopper. Amrut Greedy Angels 12-years-old is a very rare edition with only 240 bottles released worldwide. “The angels of Bangalore live up to their fame”, concludes Ashok Chokalingam, Master Distiller, Amrut Distilleries., “this land can make whiskies that will amaze and stun you every single time.”

Nose : This is a typical complex whisky with a strong nose of dark plums, prunes and melons. Then there is an emergence of coconut and marzipan joined at the hip by dark chocolate. The vanilla and sweet orange combination pops out slowly. There is a shade of tropical fruits. It is very clear as to how the reversal maturation process worked with the evidence of prunes and dark chocolate.

Palate : To start with, there is a clear shout by the dark chocolate followed by marzipan and golden syrup. There are follow up notes of creamy vanilla pods and honey and combined with tropical fruits and orangey citrus that are super soft. There is a shade of minty note suggesting the tropical age of this aged whisky.

Overall : Complex and full-bodied, the minty note is refusing to go away with a very refreshing note on the palate.
