Transcending the eminently fruity character of the 10-year-old version of this whisky from our 2016 collection, this new “Greedy Angel’s” opus from Amrut has undeniably increased in concentration. This is translated in the nobility of its wood and the power of its spice. Add to this the prominent role played by the malted barley, whose almost poetic influence enables the aromas and flavours to really shine and maintain the same fresh expression from beginning to end.

Color : vieil or à reflets cuivrés.

Nose : simultaneously lively and smooth. The very first aromas on the nose bring together candied citrus fruit (orange, mandarin) and dark chocolate. Showing an American streak, it develops notes of new oak, spice (coriander, cinnamon) and bourbon-vanilla. But quickly the malted barley takes the reins, dominating this malt’s extremely warm and sunny palette of aromas. Lingers on notes of ivy, lime blossom and exotic fruit (banana, mango).

Palate : dense, full. The fruit on the attack shines exuberantly. Candied apricot, passion fruit and mango wonderfully illustrate its extroverted and exotic character. The very lightly liquorice mid-palate wavers between vanilla and chocolate. Gradually, light candied and praline tannins gently contract the palate. Notes of lime and fresh mint arrive at the end of the palate for an invigorating finish.

Overall : long, silky. Malted barley makes a noteworthy appearance on the surface of the palate. It literally seems to float above a universe that overflows with spices (star anise, curry), heady florals (reseda, tuberose) and candied fruits (apple, plum, walnut). The retro-nasal olfaction is both generous (apricot tart) and delicately woody. The empty glass overflows with noble spices (cardamom, clove, turmeric).
