    Born from the friendship between Sukhinder Singh (Elixir Distillers) and Thierry Bénitah (La Maison du Whisky), this bottling is a tribute to Speyside’s Imperial distillery, which was founded in 1897. The distillery’s history was marked by long periods of inactivity and between 1899 and 1954, it only produced whisky for a short period of eight years, before being mothballed again between 1985 and 1989, and between 1998 and 2000, before finally closing permanently in 2002. This expression’s palette of flavours and aromas is refined and sculpted, and successfully maintains the carefree insouciance of its youth. Heading off the beaten path at every opportunity, its originality and freedom of tone is plain to see at every turn.

    Nose : fresh, subtle. At first, chlorophyll, William’s pear, vanilla, cut hay and sage come together in an extremely sophisticated combination of aromas. Allowed to breathe, gentle spices (ginger, cardamom), lemon zest and tropical fruits (pineapple, banana) add more depth.

    Palate : svelte, clear. Opening on lemon and vanilla, the palate quickly moves into delicious and complex flavours of vegetable patch (haricot bean, courgette flower). With incredible finesse, grains of malted barley then spread across the sides of the mouth, before lavender honey floods the taste buds.

    Overall : elegant, layered. Concentrating on herbal infusions (fennel, verbena) and milky notes of coconut and almond, the finish continues on perfectly from the palate while at the same time developing notes of sweet pastries (flan, semolina cake). Inviting us to enjoy a lemon tart with acacia honey, the retro-nasal olfaction is marked by sweet and tangy notes.
