GLENLIVET 85 ans "Artistry in Oak" Generations Gordon & Macphail

On February 3, 1940, George Urquhart and his father John had the extraordinary foresight to put a spirit from the Glenlivet distillery into a Gordon & MacPhail American oak cask, intended to be enjoyed by future generations. George Urquhart, affectionately known as “Mr. George” to those who knew him best, knew he would never taste it. Only when the whisky was deemed ready would it be shared. Thanks to the family's unique skills and experience, the time has come for cask no. 336: 85 years of waiting, the longest maturation in the history of single malt Scotch whisky. For this bottling, Gordon & MacPhail collaborated with internationally renowned American architect Jeanne Gang to create a unique decanter to house the most precious whisky ever presented to date. This unique single malt with aromas of aged leather opens with notes of apricot compote and sweet spices, enhanced by hints of vanilla, citrus, and beeswax, with a subtle smoky nuance. On the palate, it seduces with its balance of black pepper, dried tobacco, and Seville orange peel, complemented by fruity notes of morello cherry and plum supported by delicate oak. The finish is full and persistent, ending with beautiful herbaceous notes.
