GLENFARCLAS 105 60%
Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Speyside, 70cl, Ref: 8127
For a high-proof whisky, Glenfarclas 105 is surprisingly smooth and mellow. This lively single malt is also exceptionally warm thanks to its smoky notes. Adding a little water reveals its full depth. In 2004 the Malt Maniacs described this whisky as the best ‘Bang for your buck!’. Not to be missed!
- Appearance : mahogany.
- Nose : very recognisably sherry. Hazelnut praline. Old leather. Smooth notes of pastries: crème caramel, citrus fruit jam. A distant echo of bacon.
- Palate : enveloping. Deep. Dried fruit. Fine, sweet, concentrated attack. Evokes cognac.
- Overall : long and spicy.
- The brand
An independent distillery since the 19th century, Glenfarclas can claim to produce one of the most traditional single malts in the world. The same type of stills have been used here since 1836; its single malts are aged predominantly in ex-sherry casks, even though these cost ten times more than their American counterparts; running the distillery requires at least 13 people, with the manipulation of its 52,000 casks being performed entirely by hand. The Family Casks collection, the perfect illustration of this long tradition, brings together 43 successive vintage bottlings dating from 1952 to 1994, each one a single cask bottled at cask strength.

Laphroaig 10 year old is undoubtedly one of the all time great malt whiskies from Scotland. Its idiosyncratic peaty character stands out...€46.00

Comment dire ?
