- Appearance : rich gold.
- Nose : appealing, a basketful of red and dried fruit. Strawberry, plum and prune. Precise notes of coffee. Vegetal, herbaceous and cut grass. Green almonds. Yoghurt and apricot make a strong reappearance.
- Palate : smooth, Amaretto liqueur. Develops into dried fruit, fresh hazelnut and milky almond. A touch of rancio with walnut undertones.
- Overall : lingers on to dried fruit and malted barley. The dry extract reveals a precise note of cocoa powder. Hits all the right notes.
- The brand
Maintaining its image as a small-batch distillery, Glen Garioch caused a stir in September 2009 by launching a new version of its single malt: the Glen Garioch 1797 Founder’s Reserve. This highly symbolic release celebrated the renovation of the distillery which, having become the property of the Japanese group Suntory in 1994, was reopened in 1997, exactly 200 years after it was first founded.
