Lambig is first and foremost the story of one man: Guy Le Lay.
Unwilling to accept the planned disappearance of this farmhouse spirit, which had been distilled in his family since 1921, he founded his own distillery and launched the first Lambig de Bretagne in 1989.
Stubborn like a true Breton, he fought to preserve the name “Lambig de Bretagne” (“Fine Bretagne” being the other designation used), a term deeply rooted in the ancestral heritage of Western Brittany.
In 1950, the town of Plomelin, where the distillery is located, was home to the highest concentration of travelling distillers in Brittany.
