CRAIGELLACHIE 17 ans

This Craigellachie is far more mature in comparison to its brother, four years its junior. Assertive right from the start, it fully expresses its naturally fruity character before developing more medicinal and floral tones. It is interesting to note that although the malted barley is pervasive throughout it is also quite altruistic in that it contents itself to playing the role of simply enhancing the aromatic and gustatory palate.

Nose : lively, assertive. A drop of honey and a handful of exotic fruit (pineapple, coconut) fills the centre and illustrates just how mature this is. Malted barley and spices dominate the circumference. Both unctuous and dynamic, it becomes increasingly floral and medicinal.

Palate : firm, vigorous. Starts with lots of strength and firmness. Becomes more serene and develops milky notes (almond, coconut). Self-assured and determined, its fruity notes can now take centre stage before a handful of spices rekindle the energy present at the beginning of the palate.

Overall : rich, smooth. The malted barley, heady florals (iris, gardenia) and a few mild spices emphasise just how delicate the wood (oak) is here. The retro-olfaction exudes numerous aromatic plants (sage, savory, bay leaf). The empty glass is chocolatey and roasted (café liégeois).
