CHRISTIAN DROUIN 19 ans Foursquare Angels

After exploring the islands of Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Martinique, the latest Calvados from Maison Drouin for the 8th edition of the Experimental range by Christian Drouin was worked in former Foursquare casks.

Foursquare is an iconic and family-owned distillery from Barbados known for producing world-renowned rum with great aromatic expression.

A 17-year-old Calvados Pays d'Auge was placed into 8 French oak casks that had previously contained rum from the Foursquare distillery. After maturing in these casks for 17 months, the Calvados was removed and transferred to freshly re-toasted casks for an additional 3 months before being bottled. "Christian Drouin experimental Foursquare Angels" is one of the most intense and rich expressions produced within this range. The base was a powerful 17-year-old Calvados. The rum casks imparted notes of brown sugar and vanilla, providing the Calvados with exceptional complexity and depth. However, upon extraction from the casks, it was believed that an extra three months in freshly re-toasted casks would further enhance the roundness and structure of this exotic blend for a perfect balance between these two worlds." - Guillaume Drouin.
