Aged in French oak barrels until the apples take on an almost philosophical dimension, this 30-year-old Calvados expresses an orchard aged by oxidation, leathery tannins, cellar accents, and an autumnal melancholy. Marked by bitter and semi-bitter fruits, it captures the palate with an old-world intensity and finishes with a clean bite. No sugar, no artifice, no compromise: Normandy in its raw state. Decadent Drinks is an independent bottler of whisky and other spirits. Angus MacRaild – also author of the WhiskySponge blog – is its founder. His philosophy is quality, pleasure, and not taking life too seriously. This quirky side is reflected both in his blog and on the labels of his bottlings, with the sponge character appearing in a wide variety of ways. These bottlings, mostly single casks, are divided into different brands such as Spongeverse, Equinox & Solstice, Equilibrium, and NAS.
