This 12-year-old single malt, finished in an ex-Margaux cask, elevates Blair Athol’s robust malt character to new heights. The nose unfolds with buttery caramel biscuits and wild dark berries, with blackcurrant taking centre stage. Adding a drop of water reveals a ripe orchard: juicy apples, pears, and a twist of orange peel. The palate is luxurious and silky, intertwining robust malt with vibrant fruit notes. The finish gently fades with echoes of malt, crisp green apple, and a refined herbal flourish. This whisky is part of the Odyssey range, an annual collection of 20 carefully selected casks, re-racked for a second maturation of at least three years. Each bottle explores the possibilities of controlled aging, charting a unique journey through the influence of the wood.
