Behind the number 85 lies a distillery that produces a single malt which is particularly popular with master blenders. Long fermentations lasting 80 to 120 hours in larch washbacks and slow distillations in small stills result in a famously rich and deep fruitiness. This truly remarkable Oloroso sherry cask presents intoxicating floral tones, a very refined mouthfeel and an incredibly noble woodiness.

Color : Vieil or.

Nose : Refined yet full. Gorgeous notes of beeswax, dried apricot and toffee light up the first nose. Allowed to breathe, the fruit takes on exoticism (mango, persimmon) and noble spices (ginger, cinnamon). The aroma palette becomes increasingly smooth with honey, lime blossom and lavender.

Palate : Unctuous, elegant. On the attack, salted butter caramel flavours envelop the taste buds. Dried fruit and nuts (almond, walnut, fig) then dominate the mid-palate. The vanilla and milky (coconut) end of the palate is deliciously lemony.

Overall : Long, serene. The rich start of the finish reveals notes of candied citrus fruits (orange, mandarin) and quince jelly. The heady (lilac, hyacinth, carnation) and very delicate after-taste (rice powder, grated ginger) culminates in a chocolatey and woody (sandalwood, eucalyptus) finish.
