RENEGADE Pre Cask Old Bacolet

Renegade Rum Distillery: a modern marvel. Meticulously designed to highlight the individuality of each terroir, the purity born of long fermentation, and a thoughtful, exacting distillation. Old Bacolet Terroir: On the southern coast, sheltered from the full force of the Atlantic trade winds, Old Bacolet was among the first areas cultivated by the French. A floodplain lying between two small rivers, its alluvial soils—Plains Clay Loam and Woburn Clay—combined with a high water table, yield luxuriant cane. For this rum, we harvested the fast-growing variety we call Cain from Josh’s field, located on the Riverside parcel of this terroir. At Old Bacolet Farm, an expansive panorama of cane, made up of multiple varieties, thrives across nearly 25 acres. The land—close to the coast yet far enough inland to be rich and moist—has been farmed since the 1800s. Indeed, coconut palms, papaya, mango, and other scattered trees in and around the fields still bear witness to the soil’s enduring fertility. The river flowing through Old Bacolet carries a refreshing breeze on its way to the sea.
