Portofino Dry Gin was founded in 2018 in tribute to Klaus Pudel, the grandfather of one of the founders and an iconic figure of Italy’s 1960s lifestyle. In addition to juniper berries, this expression named La Penisola is made from a combination of 10 local ingredients—maritime pine needles, sage, marjoram, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, rose, bay leaf and rosemary. The tangy, floral and coastal palette of flavours and aromas also reveals spices and creamy milky tones. This particularly expressive profile creates an irresistible desire to watch and rewatch Federico Fellini’s great masterpiece, La Dolce Vita.

Nose : Fresh, fine. Aromas of citrus fruits (orange, lime) and lemongrass precede a more herbaceous (juniper, clove, cinnamon) and musky sequence. Allowed to breathe, the aroma palette becomes even fresher (mint).

Appearance : incolore.

Palate : Full-bodied and creamy. Nuanced by abundant spices (cumin, nutmeg, Sichuan pepper), the flavour palette quickly returns to milky tones of coconut, vanilla and fresh walnut. Ginger roams back and forth across the palate, with orange and black fruits arriving in the finale.

Overall : Long, dynamic. With pleasant salt and herbal infusions (sage, vervain, rosemary), the tasting takes a rich turn towards apricot and strawberry yoghurt. On the retro-nasal olfaction, coriander and basil interweave naturally with clove and grated ginger.
