With extended maturation, this personality gains finesse and complexity, as the peat becomes more polished and layers of wax, candied citrus, dried herbs and spice emerge. Selected by Decadent Drinks for the Relics collection, this 1996 vintage Old Orkney aged 30 years showcases the depth of mature Orcadian whisky. Three decades of ageing have softened the smoke and developed a complex profile where honey, yellow fruits and wax meet saline minerality and mature peat.
