    After working alongside Ichiro Akuto at the Chichibu distillery, Yoshiharu Takeuchi followed his mentor’s advice and equipped Nine Leaves with stills built by the renowned Scottish coppersmith Forsyths, based in Rothes, Speyside. The squat, wide wash still recalls those at Chichibu, while the tall spirit still with its long swan neck is reminiscent of Glenmorangie’s. Blended from three 300-litre casks that previously held Armagnac, this small batch reveals the full complexity of an exceptionally pure distillate. Airy and elegant, its aromatic and flavour palette unfolds through a graceful succession of fruity, spicy, liqueur-like, herbal and floral sequences, each more delicate than the last.

    Color : jaune doré.

    Nose : Refined and airy. Bursting with juicy notes of fresh pineapple, clove, and lemon, the aromatic profile soon becomes more heady (sugarcane flower), smoother (cane sugar), and vanilla-driven. Later, hints of eucalyptus and Armenian paper bring a gentle empyreumatic touch.

    Palate : Elegant and slender. Echoing the nose with more fruit (lemon, pear), the palate also crosses vibrant green landscapes (sugarcane fields, cut hay, reeds) radiant with freshness and light. Gradually, cane syrup softly coats the palate.

    Overall : Delicate and elongated. Closely tied to the palate, it invites another taste of the bright, fresh pineapple first found on the nose. The retro-olfaction is smoothly honeyed (acacia), gently minty, and infused with lemon balm.
