MOUNT GAY Rum Cognac Cask Expression

For the eighth edition of the Master Blender Collection, Trudiann Branker, Master Blender at Mount Gay, chose to highlight the influence of tropical aging on a single-batch rum matured in casks that previously held cognac. Building on a long tradition of excellence in crafting fine spirits, she turned to the house of Rémy Martin, renowned for producing exceptional cognacs for over 300 years, to source casks that enhance the delicate fruity profile of Mount Gay’s traditional column-distilled rums. The use of French oak barrels, particularly those made from wood sourced in the Limousin forests, imparts a rich vanilla character thanks to their naturally wide grain. Four years of tropical aging in Barbados bring forward notes of red stone fruits, cherry, vanilla, and caramel. The result is an elegant and fruit-driven single-batch rum that reveals its complexity with every sip.
