In 1841, the first liquorist in Dijon in the heart of Burgundy, Auguste-Denis Lagoute created a new recipe: the very first Crème de Cassis in the world. His son-in-law Henry Lejay joined the company and the two families built their shared history around an exceptional fruit. Two varieties of Cassis were used to concoct this unique recipe: the Noir de Bourgogne, which offers a pleasant acidity, and the Blackdown, which adds rounder, fleshier flavours._x000D_
