Lejay Lagoute, the creator of the Crème de Cassis in 1841, has released the very first Bitter de Cassis. The blackcurrant-flavoured bitters was developed according to the treatise of the Abbot of Montarand, who in 1712 was the first to discover blackcurrant's admirable properties and its pharmaceutical and nutritional virtues.
