Is it peaty or is it sweet? It's a question that will divide opinions! It was in 2003 that Brian Kinsman first distilled peated spirit in the Glenfiddich stills. Inspired by this idea, he decided to marry this peated single malt with another Glenfiddich whisky, aged in Bourbon casks: sweet and fruity. Then Brian Kinsman dared a crazy idea to create an innovative experiment. He matured these whiskies in rum casks, to give them extra sweetness and complexity. Some people will mainly experience the smokiness, an unusual style for Glenfiddich, while others will only see the sweetness given by the rum casks.
