FRUS 2019 1940 Merlot - Rouge

This true rarity (only 611 bottles of the 2019 vintage were produced!) stems from a tiny parcel (0.37 hectare) of old merlots, its vines — chosen by way of massal selection — planted in 1940. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel vats (manually punched down daily, with great care), then spend nearly three years in Slavonian oak barrels in order to reserve the uniqueness of this Friulian merlot.
