Blended Malt
A blended malt (formerly known as a vatted malt) is a malt whisky made from a blend of whiskies from several malt distilleries. The names of the distilleries never feature on the labels, such as: Johnnie Walker Green Label, Peat Monster, Monkey Shoulder, Nikka Pure Malt White.
Blended malts are much rarer than single malts. There were some bottlings in the mid-2000s, but this category of whisky has suffered from the enormous popularity of single malts. Only the Japanese have managed to maintain a balance: they have always presented this category alongside their single malts.
