Fruit Eaux-de-vie

Fruit eaux de vie are spirits distilled from a fruit base and do not contain any added sugar. However, a distinction should be made between true fruit eaux de vie and eaux de vie obtained by the distillation of a fermented fruit base that could be considered as a separate classification. For example, a grape eau de vie is not the same as a wine eau de vie such as cognac, due to the fact that is distilled from a simple must, that would not be able to claim a particular appellation or classification. The same distinction applies to apple eaux de vie and cider eaux de vie, such as Calvados.
