We no longer need to present the most famous of the single barrel bourbons. Each new bottling does, however, offer its own fair share of surprises and originality. This version, baptised “Bourbon Street”, is no exception to the rule. In fact it has no qualms picking up its pilgrim’s staff to guide us through the rolling roads of Kentucky to breath in the fragrances and flavours seen in all the greatest bourbons, offering even more fruit than usual._x000D_

Nose : elegant, complex. The very seductive initial nose oscillates between dried fruit (hazelnut, raisins), spices (clove, ginger), fresh fruit (pear, Mirabelle plum) and dark chocolate. It develops into notes of noble wood (cedar, oak) and stewed fruits (plum, greengage plum). Cocoa powder gradually covers the aromatic palette._x000D_

Palate : firm, rich. As is often the case with Blanton’s, the spices develop into a more powerful register, with chillies even making an appearance. The slightly medicinal (ointment) mid-palate further brings out the sensation of warmth and power that emanates from the palate. Allowed to breath, it gains in creaminess and fruity softness (apricot, orange). _x000D_ _x000D_

Overall : long, lively. Empyreumatic, notes of beeswax and incense highlight the quality of the wood. Fresh ginger and cinnamon then mingle with cashew nuts and vanilla. The retro-nasal olfaction is very fruity (ripe apple, William pear) and the empty glass joyfully reveals spices (cardamom, saffron) and aromatic herbs (lime blossom, vervain)._x000D_
