BALVENIE (The) 12 years Home Malted

Created to pay tribute to our oldest whisky ever released, distilled in 1931, this limited-edition whisky is made from 100% on-site malted barley and matured in sherry casks from Jerez, Spain.​ Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie crafted this 12-year-old single malt using techniques—from malt to cask—similar to those that led to the creation of the oldest Balvenie whisky ever released. As one of the few distilleries in Scotland that still has a malting floor, this expression is produced using barley malted entirely on The Balvenie estate.​​ Initially aged in American oak barrels, Kelsey finishes the whisky’s maturation in European oak bodega barrels that previously held sherry, sourced from Jerez. Highly prized in sherry production, these barrels have been used throughout our long history and come from the same region as the original 1931 cask.
