Founded in 1948, the Amrut distillery began producing whisky, mainly blends, in the mid-1980s. It was not until 2004 that its first single malt was launched on the British and European markets. Crafted from barley malted and peated in Scotland, this oloroso sherry cask-aged version is full of charm. Deep and airy, its aromatic and taste palette gives free rein to the nuances of peat, with hitherto unseen oily and chocolaty tones.

Nose : rich, unctuous. Initially camphorated, ashy and earthy, the aromatic palette evolves with originality on notes of artichoke and bacon base, intimately interwoven with one another. It then takes on increasingly medicinal tones (balsam).

Palate : both lively and elegant. The airy, lemony palette is clear, while waxy, empyreumatic flavors (soot, sleet) gradually coat the taste buds. Evoking the crackle of an open fire, it continues with notes of glowing embers.

Overall : long, heady. In the warm continuity of the palate, the tasting logically continues with animal (leather) and ashy notes. With time, the finish calms to become country (dandelion) and honeyed (acacia).
