Tormore, the first distillery to appear in the 20th century (1958), increased its number of stills from four to eight in 1972. It became a listed building in 1986 and produces a single malt that is highly-prized by master blenders. Overflowing with exoticism and a very pure expression, this single malt bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for La Maison du Whisky offers up a highly spirited aromatic and gustatory symphony; each note in turn is played to perfection in a truly inspired solo. This even surpasses the magnificent Tormore 1997 from our 2016 Collection – a true feat!_x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_

Nose : fresh, subtle. The initial nose is deliciously concentrated. One by one, ripe fruit (peach, apricot, pear), exotic fruit (pineapple, banana), grains of rice, still damp malted barley, roasted walnuts, cocoa beans, spices and tiger balm lift the aromatic palette, making it richer, firmer and stronger. Outstanding._x000D_

Palate : lively, demonstrative. The opening of the palate transcends the nose. Fully open, the gustatory palette highlights a wildly exotic fruitiness (passion fruit, lychee, guava). A very delicate note of chocolate gently coats the taste buds on the mid-palate. Powdery, it develops into a spicier (pink peppercorn) and delicately woody register (sandalwood). Highly spirited, the finish reverts back to powerful notes of exotic fruit._x000D_

Overall : long, voluptuous. The Belle-Hélène poached pear served up is absolutely delicious. Generous, it then becomes increasingly vanilla-flavoured and creamy. Emphasising its generous nature, the retro-nasal olfaction is marked by notes of salted butter caramel and biscuit. Sparkling with freshness, the empty glass reflects the strength and firmness of the initial nose._x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_
