THY 2020 Danish Malted Rye Elixir Distillers

Located in the windswept countryside of western Denmark, the Thy distillery (pronounced “Tu”) produces a fully hands-on whisky, from organically grown cereals on the family farm to on-site malting and cask filling. Always experimenting, the distillery combines tradition and innovation. Distilled between 2014 and 2016 and bottled in 2025, this small batch of 3 casks matured in new American oak – Quarter Casks. This whisky opens with a warm, spicy nose featuring pepper, honey, and banana. The palate surprises with unusual notes above the rye bread base: eucalyptus, burnt orange, rosemary, and thyme, forming an almost melodic bouquet. The finish reveals touches of anise and ginger, perfectly balancing the spiciness of Danish rye. The Whisk(e)y Trail range reflects Sukhinder’s passion for distilleries worldwide, historic or modern.
