Martell Trois Étoiles - matured for at least two years in oak casks - bottled in the 1960s and imported to Italy by Carlo Salengo in Genoa. Martell was founded in 1715 by Jean Martell in association with a Bordeaux merchant, Jean Fiott. After a difficult start, the company met with success among the European elite, particularly the British, then the Americans and finally the rest of the world. Cordon bleu - in fact an XO - was created in 1912 by Edouard Martell, the founder's great-grandson, with a generous proportion of Borderies eaux-de-vie in the blend. It develops a fruity style marked by an undeniably charming rancio.
