SCOTCH WHISKY : Laphroaig 14 Year Old 2012 is a peated single malt from the Isle of Islay in Scotland.

PROFILE : This single malt reveals a vivid and heady profile, featuring peated, medicinal, tropical fruit, earthy and empyreumatiques notes. Selected exclusively by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, this single cask No. 1465 was matured in a bourbon cask and bottled at cask strength.

INDEPENDENT BOTTLER : Founded in 1948, the Douglas Laing family-owned brand is an independent bottler renowned for its authentic single casks. Launched in 2013, the Old Particular range highlights exceptional single casks, bottled without chill-filtration or colouring.

Nose : Lively, heady. Exotic (passion fruit), earthy (rich, oily peat), minty, and tart (lime), the aromatic palette is both elegant and fluid. When allowed to breathe, hydrocarbons (asphalt, petrol), cloves, and dark chocolate unreservedly take center stage. Later, aromas of lily and carnation float in the air.

Palate : Broad and deep. Licorice-tinged, oily, peaty, and maritime (fleur de sel, iodine), the flavor profile comes back strong with the hydrocarbon notes from the nose. Then, refreshed by citrus zest (lemon, grapefruit) and the juice of various white fruits (pear, peach, apple), it turns to vanilla (vanilla pod) and vegetal notes (reed, heart of palm).

Overall : Long and warming. Maritime (shellfish, seaweed), herbaceous (alfalfa, cut hay), ashy, empyreumatic (eucalyptus), and tart, it gradually displays beautifully malty (barley gruel, porridge), spicy (cardamom), and minty tones. In perfect harmony, the retro-olfaction and the dry extracts from the empty glass paint a highly seductive portrait of Laphroaig.
