PROFILE: This whisky reveals a rich and powerful profile, highlighted by notes of ash, sage and camphor. It was matured in a reconditioned American oak cask (STR).

Nose : Rich, expansive. On the first nose, oxidative aromas of beeswax, linden honey, and exotic fruits (banana, pineapple) sit alongside earthy, iodized (seaweed), and saline scents. With aeration, the profile becomes more spiced (clove, star anise), medicinal (Tiger Balm), and balsamic (cedar, pine).

Palate : Firm, powerful. Beautifully malted, rustic (dandelion), rooty (gentian), and spiced (ginger), the palate displays immense concentration. Over time, the peat takes on more herbaceous (cut hay), saline, and even empyreumatic (ashes, soot) accents.

Overall : Long, velvety. Supported by a pleasant, chocolatey, herbal-tea bitter edge (sage, verbena), it proves particularly fruity (Williams pear, Golden Delicious apple). Both fresh and heady, the back palate is dominated by a peat that has grown richer and oilier. Rich in malted, floral (iris, lily), and camphoraceous scents and flavors, the retro-olfaction and the dry residue in the empty glass seamlessly merge.
