"One sip of Centenario 12 year old Gran Legado rum will take you straight to Costa Rica, where it originated. Since sugar cane is grown in Costa Rica mainly for the sugar industry, the molasses recovered from it is fermented before being distilled twice: the first distillation is column distillation to produce a "clean" distillate, and the second, using an iron distillation process, gives a "cruder" result, richer and stronger in flavour.
Centenario 12 ans Gran Legado rum is aged in American white oak casks that have previously been used to age Whisky or Bourbon. In addition to its lightness and balance, the Costa Rican distillery's own process of making this rum gives it a uniquely smooth character. "
