CAOL ILA 2009 Alibi Chess Investigation Series

Alibi is the second bottling in the Chess Investigation series devoted to the malts of the Caol Ila distillery. Bottled at natural strength, this 2009-distilled release comes from a single bourbon barrel. Frequently used in the maturation of Scotch whisky, ex-bourbon casks made of American oak hold 200 litres and lend the spirit creamy notes of vanilla and coconut. A limited edition of 210 bottles. Founded in 1846, the Caol Ila distillery was entirely rebuilt in 1974 to the plans of architect George Leslie Darge. Equipped with 6 imposing stills, it produces a single malt that delights not only the master blenders of the great houses but also independent bottlers.
