Burnside is the name given to a Speyside blended malt, built around a predominant single malt from a distillery whose identity is not officially highlighted. The style is characterised by elegance and fruit, with orchard fruits, honey and a silky texture gaining further depth through extended maturation. After more than three decades, the profile naturally evolves towards candied fruit, wax and gentle spices. Selected by Decadent Drinks for its Decadent Drams range, this 1992 vintage Burnside aged 33 years matured in a 2nd Fill Pedro Ximénez Cask. The more restrained influence of the refill PX cask brings dried fruits, cocoa and spice without overwhelming the finesse developed through age. The result combines mature fruit, honey and wax with a measured layer of rich sherry character.
