This Benrinnes, distilled in 1994, was aged for 29 years in first-fill puncheon sherry casks before being bottled at its natural 53.3%. This lively, spicy Speyside single malt opens with aromas of chocolate, nuts and orange. Nestled in the heart of Speyside at the foot of Mount Ben Rinnes, the Benrinnes distillery is a discreet gem of Scotch whisky. Founded in 1826, it had a turbulent early history, including partial destruction by flood in 1829. But it was its unique distillation process that set it apart: until 2007, Benrinnes used partial triple-pass distillation, giving its whisky incomparable richness and texture. Created in 1968 by the great whisky visionary, “Mr George” Urquhart, the “Connoisseurs Choice” range now includes over 2,000 bottlings from a hundred Scottish distilleries. The story behind each “Connoisseurs Choice” whisky is told on its label: cask type, bottling date, degree, vintage and tasting notes.
