This Benriach 2014 aged 10 years in first-fill oloroso sherry casks before being bottled at 57.10%. This powerful, gourmet Speyside single malt opens with notes of candied black fruits, cocoa and sweet spices. The 100 Proof range refers to the British system of measuring alcohol content, which corresponds to the famous “Navy Strength”. Founded in 1898 by John Duff on Speyside, the Benriach distillery got off to a rocky start, closing in 1900 after the whisky crisis. It lay dormant for decades, surviving only thanks to its malting plant, before being reborn in the 1960s. Bought by an independent group in 2004, then integrated into the Brown-Forman group in 2016, Benriach today stands out for its innovative spirit: multiple aging (sherry, rum, port...), use of peat in Speyside, and a remarkable aromatic diversity.
