After closing between 1978 and 1984 for partial reconstruction and renovation, Ben Nevis was once again mothballed between 1986 and 1990. This expression is driven by a very fluid succession of flavour and aroma sequences that show us this single malt — today known for its often unique profile — in a particularly sunny light. Both extroverted and elegantly simple, its accessibility, complexity and natural allure are all highlights of the tasting.

Color : or pâle.

Nose : lively, fresh. Candied lemon, coconut milk and juicy pineapple form a well-balanced first sequence. Sweet spices (cinnamon, white pepper), honey and malt then lead a richer and more concentrated second sequence.

Palate : fine, sharp. Continuing on perfectly from the nose, the flavour palette starts out tropical and milky. Herbs, aniseed and vanilla then draw the palate out with a delicate mouthfeel.

Overall : long, radiant. The finish is remarkably natural and original, characterized initially by notes of fresh almond and pistachio. With time, strong spices (nutmeg, clove) pair with rich flavours of white chocolate and almond pastries.
