AMRUT Bourbon Cask The Chronicles

60%single malt whisky70cLindia/bangalore Ref COL54992

129.00 €

i.e. 184.29 € / liter

Founded in 1948, the Amrut distillery began producing malt whiskies in the mid-1980s. It was not until 2004 that its first official single malt was released simultaneously in France and the UK. This magnificent bourbon cask bottling bursts with fruity, floral, honeyed, spicy and vanilla tones that bring lots of nuance and silkiness to a palette of flavours and aromas that has no end of arguments and which transports us to the East. With its notes of beer and yeast, the finish is a veritable ode to malted barley.

Nose : rich yet voluptuous. Stunning notes of ripe apricot appear alongside malted barley, vanilla and dried fruits (walnut, date) on the initial nose. Its oriental temperament is then enhanced by an exciting floral register (rose petal, peony, geranium). The more the aromatic palette breathes, the more sophisticated and rich (Turkish delight, rice pudding) it becomes.

Palate : with ethereal elegance, the palate literally propels us into a cornucopia of fruit (blackcurrant, mango, wild peach, red currant, pippin apple, etc.), giving stunning breadth to the aromatic palette. The mid-palate is marvellously honeyed (lime blossom, bay leaf) and nobly spicy (pink peppercorn, ginger, saffron). The tasting lingers on notes of fruit jelly (green tomato, passion fruit).

Overall : long, invigorating. To refresh the taste buds, the finish brings us to breathe in the aromas of a washback at the end of fermentation. Bitter-sweet notes of beer flood the palate. At the same time, the noble wood takes on vanilla, toasted and spicy (star anise, cinnamon) tones. The retronasal olfaction is heady (iris butter) and the empty glass allows us to contemplate a magnificent bouquet of dried flowers.
