HOW TO BUY ON FINE SPIRITS AUCTION?

1. CREATE AN ACCOUNT

Create an account on Fine Spirits Auction to participate in auctions and consult spirits price estimates. This service is free and carries no obligation.

2. PLACING A BID

TWO OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE TO YOU:

  • a. Place a simple bid Simply click the "bid" button and confirm the hammer price shown above.
  • b. Place a maximum bid To maximize your chances of winning the spirit you are interested in—without the risk of exceeding your budget—you can place a maximum bid. This maximum price (not visible to other bidders) will only be reached if other clients attempt to outbid you. The bid will automatically increase each time another user exceeds your previous bid, up to the maximum amount you have set, without you needing to manually track the auction.

To set this bid, use the + and - buttons located to the right of the hammer price.

HOW DO THE AUCTIONS WORK?

HOW ARE THE SPIRITS APPRAISED? Every bottle offered for auction on Fine Spirits Auction is meticulously appraised by a specialized team (composed of iDealwine experts and LMDW rare spirits specialists) to filter out bottles in poor condition or counterfeits. A series of verification checkpoints are carried out for each brand and type of spirit.

HOW TO TRACK A LOT?

Before bidding, you can also "watch" any lots that interest you. The list of bottles you are eyeing will be displayed on a single page, allowing you to easily track the auctions and ensure you don’t miss out on anything.

HOW DOES THE AUCTION END?

At the scheduled end date and time of the sale, the highest and final bidder on each lot becomes the winning bidder: they win the lot. The countdown is continuously accessible on the catalogs and product pages.

Automatic Auction Extension Mechanism – "Overtime Bidding"

In the event that a bid is placed within the 3 minutes preceding the closing time of the auction catalog (date and time indicated in the "our auctions" menu), bidding on that specific lot is automatically extended by 3 minutes.

If another bid is received within the 30 seconds preceding the new closing time of the lot, bidding is automatically extended by an additional 30 seconds. This 30-second extension mechanism can repeat up to a maximum of 9 times, ensuring that the total maximum extension for the auction does not exceed 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

WHAT FEES APPLY TO THE AUCTIONS?

In addition to the hammer price, the bidder must pay buyer’s commissions and delivery costs. The applicable buyer's commission for spirits auctions is 19.2% incl. VAT (16% excl. VAT). This commission remunerates the Voluntary Sale Operator (IWA SARL) and is applied to the final price at the close of the auction on the site (which corresponds to the hammer price).

HOW AND WHEN DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR WINNING BID?

At the conclusion of the electronic auctions, you will receive the result of your bid for each lot you placed an order on, as well as the price at which you won the lot, if applicable. Once the final auctions of the day have ended, you will receive an email inviting you to pay for your order. You can then choose to have it delivered or collect it from our warehouse.
