ABERFELDY 20 ans 1996 Fine French Wine Finish - 60 ans LMDW

Nose : intense, fresh. With a wonderfully dignified expression and extreme complexity, the initial nose is fruity (apple, plum, mango), with hints of chocolate, spiciness (black pepper) and medicinal notes (balm). Allowed to breathe, it develops notes of dried fruit and nuts (apricot, almond, date). Tremendous richness: notes of new oak, light tobacco and fresh ginger enthusiastically punctuate the aromatic palette._x000D_

Palate : full-flavoured, generous. A wonderful continuation of the nose. Notes of vanilla and white flowers initially envelop a plethora of fruits (Greengage plum, Rennet apple, Mirabelle plum). Ethereal and with a rare distinction, the mid-palate reveals a certain spirituality, with notes of incense appearing in a climax. The end of the palate is initially delicately liquoricey and herbaceous (lichen, moss) before a handful of spices arrive to take us to the finish with gusto._x000D_

Overall : long, almost tannic. Cocoa powder, liquorice sticks and aromatic plants (rosemary, tarragon) first contract the palate. Then, with mouth-watering freshness, the flavours progress from vanilla to florals (lily, iris). The retro-nasal olfaction highlights the silky mouthfeel, reminiscent of the most sumptuous fabrics, while notes of rhubarb give it the acidity necessary for ageing. The empty glass is spicy (clove, nutmeg) and creamy.
